March 2012 Pre-production work on a new album has begun. With their most solid lineup and material to date, the band is excited to be working on a new album for release later this year. Stay tuned... |

‘It’s usually a sign of a good band when the first few rows of fans at a loud rock show are dancing their asses off, which is exactly the response Oshawa’s Micronite Filters provoked...a bluesier, more soulful version of proto-hard rock acts, tweaking the acid rock formula just enough to sound new again’ - Benjamin Boles, Now Magazine ‘Forceful and sturdy, hard Blues with an ecstatic metal groove, and a whole lot of soul. Body moving and toe tapping. The whole set was serious enjoyment, and you could feel the good vibe in the room. I looked around at one point to see everyone dancing’ -Durham-live.com ‘Musicaly diverse’, ‘serious riffage’, and ‘thoughtfully intense’ ‘Truly memorable...the dirty dive-bar vibe that’s all over this is what we need more of in Canadian rock’ - Dave Jaffer, thehour.ca ‘No nonsense attitude’, ‘intensely visceral blues-heavy rock’, ‘a powerful listen’ - Skopemag.com The Micronite Filters are a riveting rock and roll ride that simultaneously energize the senses, mind, and soul. They’ve recorded four albums and one vinyl single, played countless shows from dive-bars to outdoor festivals, survived numerous lineup changes, and experimented with sounds from rock, blues, psychedelic, folk, country, and more. They continue challenge conformity, listeners, the norm. In September 2011, armed with some new weapons, the Micronite Filters released a limited edition 45 rpm 7" vinyl single. It features Side A "the Rise of the Machines", inspired by an interview with Steve Wozniak on artificial intelligence, and a National Geographic article on machines that can learn. Side B "the Earth Still Speaks" is a reworking of an older song that warns of the difficulty society faces, and the challenges we place on our Mother Earth. Now it’s 2012. A new full length album is on the horizon. A concise sound built around
heavy and sometimes psyched-out North Mississippi Hill blues. The band looks to release
their most hip-shaking, soul-singing, truth-correcting, justice-demanding, universe-expanding
work yet. The time is now... This ain’t no old man’s blues! The Micronite Filters are: Abel Renton: geetar, assorted, vocals; Dan Reiffer: drums, percussion, vocals; Angel Valenciano: bass, vocals; Bruce Mackinnon: keys, trombone, and other magical sounds |
