Mencken once said; "Any one who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood" - And the Ravishing Ronalds are all about ideas, concepts and musical musings that provoke thought. It doesn't have to be lucid or obvious; it just has to make you think. As for The Ravishing Ronalds, their lot is to paint aural landscapes and tell lilting, lyrical stories of heartache, loss and obsession. Their throw-shit-against-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks music employs a marriage of traditional as well as oddly offbeat elements that provide just enough tension to make you listen, plenty of pop and rock sentiment to enjoy and arrangements that challenge and bend conventional formats. Lyrically ranging from the straightforwardly banal to the supremely cryptic, their message never strays from the importance and the pitfalls of the human condition. Singer, Franco Care's, deep throaty deliver has been described as a cross between JJ Cale, Lou Reed and Dr. John, while the dueling guitars of Abel Renton and Peter Moore provide nearly epic moments in songs chock full of dynamics, orchestration and driving rhythms.
